Last Friday, the 17th, the Costa do Sol Sports Club Academy was honored with the presence of Riyad Mahrez, star of African football and prominent player of the Algerian National Team. Mahrez not only trained on the Costa do Sol field with his entire national team, but also dedicated special time to the young players of the academy.
During training, the atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm as Mahrez greeted and warmly interacted with the talented young players from the Academy. His presence not only boosted sportsmanship but also provided aspiring players with a unique opportunity to learn from an icon of African football.
This gesture of closeness between Mahrez and the local academy reflects not only the player's professionalism, but also his commitment to contributing to the development of football in Mozambique. Direct interaction with young talent is vital to inspire the next generation of players and strengthen the connection between established and up-and-coming athletes.
The timing is opportune, as next Sunday, the 19th, the Mozambican National Team, the Mambas, will face Algeria at the Zimpeto National Stadium, in an exciting match of the second round of Group “G” of the African zone of qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
With the Mambas' recent victory in Botswana and Algeria's triumph over Somalia, expectations for this match are high. Mahrez's presence on the Costa do Sol pitch certainly left a positive impression, creating a vibrant atmosphere as Mozambique prepares for another exciting stage in their quest for world qualification.
