We are getting closer and closer to another premiere of "Voices of the Pearl of the Indian Ocean".“

This week's featured voice comes from the province of Sofala, in the Manga neighborhood. Lázaro Sampaio, a Gospel artist, is the artist we're talking to about whether it's possible to make a living from Gospel music in Mozambique. Come along and discover the answer to this and other questions.

Lázaro Sampaio is a singer with a strong following in the music market, one of the leading figures in the Gospel genre nationally. We sought to find out from this prominent figure if it's possible to make a living from Gospel music in Mozambique, and the answer was simple and direct. "It is possible, yes, but it's necessary for entrepreneurs to embrace Gospel music," said Lázaro Sampaio, drawing the attention of businesspeople to this issue.

This week's artist believes it's easier to reach the spotlight by being in the country's capital city and explains why. "In the provinces it's very difficult, music isn't valued there. If you have talent you have to come here, that's where it's really going to happen," said Lázaro Sampaio, speaking about the capital city.

Lázaro adds that he will not be releasing new work this year, which is sad news for his fans and admirers. However, in compensation, they will be able to enjoy an acoustic show this Saturday, produced at the Apathany studios.
