And for this week, we have the talented young Aleixo Junior, from the province of Manica, in the district of the town of the same name. His talent is recognized by some internet users who, in yesterday's article, left good comments about Aleixo's work, and today he shares with us his point of view on the current state of Mozambican music.
It's another day, another week's artist-of-the-week tidbit being revealed. The article published yesterday received praise from some internet users familiar with the work of this talented young man. "What a great man, we're crazy about his music, success," commented one user. Because of this and other comments, we asked Alexio Junior what was missing for the whole country to recognize his potential. Junior, without mincing words, said it's entirely his responsibility. "I need to express myself in what I am and do, I need to take off and continue. It's entirely my responsibility, because I've never followed a firm and continuous career path, I've only released songs and let it roll. This time I want something different," he continued.
Next, we sought his perspective on the current state of Mozambican music. “I don’t think it’s at its best, but I also don’t think it’s at its worst. Because if we can’t dominate the national market, how will people know, respect, and consume our work abroad? We need to know and understand what we do. We’re still stuck on lyrics/message and not on what music really is; melody and vibe,” stated Aleixo Junior.
At this point, a glass of water was occasional, and we wanted to know the artist's feelings, who had been away from the cameras and stages for a long time, about the positive comments on yesterday's article and especially from the internet user from Beira. “In my point of view, it is the work that promotes the artist, and not the other way around, so even absent from the cameras and stages, I still live in the minds and hearts of those who know, enjoy and love my musical work. Therefore, my feeling is one of gratitude and confidence that it is worthwhile to continue working. Beira is the scene, because when you like something you really like it, and when you don't, hiiiii kkk,” he concluded.
In an attempt to learn more about his upcoming projects, Aleixo doesn't give many details, but he does say that he won't deviate from the norm. "All I can say for now is that it will be Top-notch, not better than others, but a more refined version of myself." Here's a sneak peek of what's to come.
