DJ Faya and Moreira Chonguissa received coverage in a national newspaper due to their participation in the African In Color festival.

Producer DJ Faya and saxophonist Moreira Chonguissa are among the three names representing Lusophone culture at the African In Color festival, now in its fourth edition, which will take place from September 7th to 11th in Kigali, Rwanda.

In this fourth edition of the event, which has been held since 2020, the objective is to position the African continent in the global creative industry market and create synergies between countries and creative entrepreneurs to "work together, negotiate and conduct business in a more efficient way," according to the organization.

Mozambique will represent the Portuguese-speaking world with three artists: in addition to DJ Faya, the entrepreneur and social activist Mel Matsinhe and the saxophonist Moreira Chonguiça, both listed in the Powerlist of the 100 Most Influential Black Personalities in the Portuguese-Speaking World.

DJ Faya believes that participating in this platform celebrating culture, arts, and creativity also recognizes the work done by Mozambican artists, who are already making their mark and inspiring international artistic production, and African artistic production in particular.

Apathany heard statements from Raoul Rugamba, the mastermind behind the festival, who, speaking to the local press, stated that the event was organized because the entertainment industry on the continent is still not improving and those involved in the sector still lack the means to make it productive. “Globally, two billion US dollars are generated from the entertainment industry, and it’s an industry that employs more than 26 million people. In Africa, this industry represents only two percent compared to the rest of the world. That’s why we thought about how to promote our continent’s entertainment industry through this event,” said Raoul Rugamba.
