Orlando Conde, the older brother of Chiquinho Conde, the current national football team coach of Mozambique, passed away last night, May 18th, in the city of Beira. Orlando was a prominent figure in Mozambican sport, with a distinguished career in athletics, basketball, and football.
According to information provided by Challenge Newspaper, Orlando Conde passed away at the age of 70 due to illness. Born on December 23, 1954, he was the eldest son of a family of prominent athletes in the country, which also includes Geraldo and Elcídio Conde.

In 1986, the Conde brothers were together in what was Mozambique's first participation in a final stage of the African Cup of Nations (CAN), a historic achievement for the country.
Orlando Conde was always linked to Ferroviário da Beira, the club where he built a large part of his sporting career and to which he remained connected in various ways. In addition, he also held positions in several departments of the Mozambican Basketball Federation (FMB).
