The punishment is applied for "failure to fulfill the duty of cooperation to which he is bound with the FAF, within the scope of the disciplinary process initiated," reads the statement from the organization.
At issue is an audio recording released on social media in which Petróleos do Lobito player Márcio Luvambo confirms that the club he represents paid three million kwanzas to Académica do Lobito to win against 1º de Agosto in an Angolan Cup match last season.
In an official statement, Petro "vehemently rejects the decision issued by the Board of Directors, due to the lack of facts and legal grounds for its application.".
The club appealed for calm "to the Tricolor Nation, sports lovers and the general public, as the appropriate appeal will be presented to the FAF's jurisdictional body".
The disciplinary body at the Angolan Football Federation (FAF) also punished Kabuscorp do Palanca with relegation to the second division for corruption during the Girabola qualifying rounds, suspending the club's president, Bento Kangamba, for four years.
The coach of Académica do Lobito, Agostinho Tramagal, was punished with a four-year suspension, also for corruption, after admitting to receiving 1 million kwanzas.
1º de Agosto was also fined 176,000 kwanzas for failing to fulfill its obligations to the FAF.
Journalist Adolfo Manuel, from Rádio Nacional de Angola, is also targeted in the FAF statement for having acted as an intermediary in the corruption scheme involving Kabuscorp and Académica do Lobito. The case files have been sent to the regulatory bodies of the profession and to his employer.
The Angolan Football Federation (FAF) has also confirmed the cancellation of the Angolan Super Cup.
The final was scheduled for this Sunday (September 3rd), between Petro de Luanda vs. Académica do Lobito.
