Intense Preparation and Respect for the Opponent: Ferroviário de Maputo in the Confederation Cup

Ferroviário de Maputo, determined to secure qualification for the Confederation Cup group stage, demonstrated its dedication and concentration on Wednesday in its final rehearsal at Afrin's ground, ahead of its upcoming match against Sagrada Esperança on Saturday.

Even carrying a 1-0 advantage from the Tundavala Stadium, the "locomotives" from the capital are not underestimating their opponent. Instead, they are approaching the game with utmost seriousness and respect. Coach João Chissano emphasized meticulous preparation, acknowledging that they will face a high-quality opponent in a competition entirely different from the Moçambola.

“It’s been a week like any other. We are preparing the team diligently. We are preparing the team with the utmost seriousness, just as we have done in all other weeks. We know that we will face an opponent, also for a competition that is completely different from the Moçambola. We have to take some aspects into consideration, we have to prepare the game in detail because we know that we will encounter many difficulties.”

Chissano emphasized the importance of being prepared for extra challenges that may arise during the game. “The players must be prepared to face a strong team, as I said Sagrada Esperança is, both on and off the field. There are some aspects that can influence the players' mindset. We are taking precautions against that.”

One of the concerns is the altitude, as the match will be played more than 1700 meters above sea level. The coach emphasized the need for caution in the first twenty minutes of the game to avoid conceding goals.

With this focused and respectful approach, Ferroviário de Maputo hopes to live up to the club's stature and secure its qualification for the Confederation Cup group stage. Preparation doesn't end until the final whistle, and the "locomotives" are ready to face any challenges that may arise on the road to victory.
