Mozambique suffers painful defeat (1-2) against Senegal.

Mozambique was full of hope and determination when they took to the field at the Stade Lat Dior in Dakar, Senegal, for the second leg of the first qualifying round of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2024. However, after an intense battle, the Mozambican players faced the sadness of defeat, losing 2-1 to Senegal and being eliminated with an aggregate score of 3-2.

The match was crucial, as the first leg had also ended in a 1-1 draw, also on Senegalese soil. The tie was wide open, and Mozambique hoped to secure a place in the next round. However, fate had other plans.
The game started well for Mozambique, who took the lead. But unfortunately, in the first half, Senegal managed to equalize, taking the game to halftime tied at 1-1.

In the second half, the Mozambican players showed signs of physical fatigue, while Senegal pressed for the winning goal. It was during this moment of weakness that Senegal found its opportunity. After a powerful shot saved by the Mozambican goalkeeper, the defenders were unable to prevent the rebound, allowing Senegal to score the second goal, which proved to be the winning goal.

There was some controversy surrounding the second goal, with Mozambique alleging a possible offside position, but the referee validated the goal.
Now, the focus turns to the future, and Mozambique will certainly continue working hard to achieve its goals on the international stage of women's football.
