In a week where we explored the Nkobe neighborhood in the Municipality of Matola, we met Big Gordo, who showcases his talent in "Voices of the Pearl of the Indian Ocean" and gains more recognition here at Apathany. Today we bring you Big Gordo's opinion on the current state of Mozambican music. As an artist or singer since 2004, does he believe that music is heading in the right direction? Join me to hear Big Gordo's point of view.
In an interview with Apathany, Big Gordo was asked by the journalist how he views the current state of Mozambican music, and if he believes it's heading in the right direction. Big Gordo responded, "I would add that Mozambican music is on the right track," adding, "What's missing is for us to start believing in ourselves and our languages." He was referring to something that Leeleo, one of the major national producers, had said a few days earlier, highlighting the importance of Mozambican artists singing in national languages.
Since the "Voices of the Pearl of the Indian Ocean" initiative belongs to Apathany, Big Gordo was questioned by the station's journalist about his point of view and the possible changes it could bring to society. "For me, Apathany is a house being built on a strong rock; I saw it born and I see it growing. The 'Voices of the Pearl of the Indian Ocean' program has a lot to offer because it is very innovative," he concluded. Its premiere is this Saturday the 16th, at 4 PM on Tv.ihapari.com and KTV.
