A young talent from the province of Zambézia, district of Nicoadala, who is making his mark on the Mozambican music scene. A participant in the program “Voices of the Pearl of the Indian Ocean”, Ignel André shared his opinions on his musical journey and inspirations.
Regarding the genre of his first song, Ignel André replied: “My first musical genre was kizomba, which is a style that has been gaining prominence in Mozambique and beyond.”
Regarding the possibility of having gained more popularity in Maputo, Ignel André shared: “I believe that being in Maputo could have boosted my popularity, as it is the center of the music industry in Mozambique. However, I am proud of my journey in Zambézia and my roots.”
When asked about his greatest ambition in the music field, Ignel André stated: “My biggest dream is to reach the highest level of Mozambican and international music. I want to be recognized for my work and to be able to inspire other young talents.”
Regarding his musical inspirations, Ignel André mentioned: “Artists like Anderson Mario, Calema, and Lisandro Cuxi are sources of inspiration for me. They have shown that it is possible to achieve success beyond national borders.”
Ignel André is forging his own path in the music industry, carrying with him the rich cultural heritage of Mozambique.
