Yesterday we announced the artists leading the “Top 10 SATURNO”, an initiative by Apathany, which aims to promote Mozambican music, from Rovuma to Maputo, from Zumbo to the Indian Ocean. On the podium is Dama Ija, who shares the top spot with Aleixo Junior and Chrill Malate. Come with me to discover another side of Dama Ija, or rather, the queen of Macua music.
Known for her sensual songs and dances, Atija Ussene Abacar, artistically known as Dama Ija, is a Mozambican singer, originally from the district of Angoche, in the province of Nampula.
Atija, or if you prefer, Dama Ija, discovered her talent for music in 2009 and began to conquer her space in the market in 2010, when she released her first hit. Her songs, sung in the Macua language, portray the life of the Macua people, which earned her the title of "Queen of Macua Music".
Dama Ija is always releasing new works and one of her biggest hits is the song titled “Likirikita“The song, whose video has 1.6 million views on YouTube, was released on that platform on January 3, 2020, a year in which the entire world was ravaged by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Recently, Dama Ija released two tracks, titled “Aladarão” and “Amapiano da Idade,” both of which were well-received by the public. Of course, they couldn't be left out of the SATURNO program, and from there they went to the “Top 10 SATURNO,” in other words, the 10 most listened-to songs of the week. “Amapiano da Idade” leads the “Top 10 SATURNO” with the highest number of views.
