After the proclamation of Alberto Simango Jr. as the new president of the Mozambican Football League (LMF), the defeated candidate, Victor Miguel, expressed his disappointment, revealing that the vote guarantees he received from some clubs did not materialize during the ballot.
In a statement, Victor Miguel expressed his disappointment with the situation, highlighting the abrupt change in stance on the part of some clubs that, according to him, had initially pledged their support. "I no longer have the same consideration or trust in people, because it wasn't a situation of raising doubts, saying we'll still think about it, but rather a guarantee that, based on the manifesto presented and the fact that I made the trip to meet with the clubs, I could be certain they would vote for my candidacy," explained Victor Miguel.
The former president of the Maputo City Football Association expressed his surprise at the alleged vote-rigging, lamenting the impact this situation could have on the future of football in Mozambique. "Unfortunately, things have changed here. Minds were manipulated; people I didn't expect to be manipulated were manipulated, and our football will unfortunately continue this way," he added.
Despite his election defeat, Victor Miguel stated that he will continue to contribute to the development of football in the country. His resilience and commitment to continuing to work for the national sport reflect the passion and dedication that many expect from sports leaders.
The Mozambican Football League, now under the presidency of Alberto Simango Jr., will face challenges and high expectations. As is customary in electoral situations, transparency and unity will be essential to strengthen trust in the sports system and promote the continued growth of football in Mozambique.
