Uwais Razaque, a promising 20-year-old Mozambican winger, is the latest addition to Sporting CP's senior basketball team. The young talent, who stood out last season playing for ABC Santo André, where he was one of the key figures in the Proliga, the second tier of Portuguese basketball, is now taking a significant step in his career by joining the "Lions".
Before his remarkable spell at ABC Santo André, Razaque built his career at CB Queluz, where he began to attract attention for his performance. Subsequently, he had the opportunity to develop his skills in Benfica's youth ranks, playing in both the Under-18 and Under-23 categories, which provided him with valuable experience in high-level competitions.
Now at Sporting Lisbon, Uwais Razaque joins one of the most prestigious teams in Portuguese basketball, demonstrating a clear ambition by stating that he is ready to face the new challenge with the goal of "winning everything". He also becomes the second Mozambican to wear the Sporting jersey, following in the footsteps of Jeremias Manjate, who represented the club in the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons.
Razaque's arrival at Sporting is a milestone not only for his career, but also for Mozambican basketball, which sees another of its talents gaining prominence on the European stage. With great potential and determination, Uwais Razaque has all the tools to make history at Sporting and continue to raise Mozambique's profile in the world of basketball.
