União Desportiva de Lichinga begins its campaign in the African Women's Champions League.

União Desportiva de Lichinga (UDL) kicks off its campaign in the African Women's Champions League today, facing Gaborone United Ladies of Botswana. The match, scheduled for 12:00 PM, takes place at Mpira Stadium in Malawi and is valid for the first round of Group B of the regional qualifiers for the fourth edition of the prestigious continental competition.

The team, under the leadership of coach Jifassone Bonomar, known as Coach Jifa, is determined to get off to a good start in this difficult competition. UDL will face a significant challenge, taking on opponents who also aspire to a place in the next stage of the African Champions League.

In their second group stage match, scheduled for next Sunday, UDL will face hosts Ascent Soccer Academy (Malawi) at 3:00 PM. This will be another crucial test for the Mozambican team, who will be looking for a win to position themselves well in the standings.

The final match of Group B will take place on August 20th, when UDL will face Young Buffaloes, again at Mpira Stadium, at 12:00 PM. This match could be decisive for the Mozambican team's aspirations to advance to the semi-finals of the competition.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, scheduled for August 22nd. The grand final of the competition is scheduled for August 24th, with no third-place match.

So far, the only team that has secured a place in the final stage of the competition is Aigles de la Medina from Senegal, who were crowned champions of the West African Football Union (WAFU) by beating Determine Girls 2-1 last weekend.

Yesterday, the competition began for Group “A”, with the following results: Harentals Queens FC (Zimbabwe) defeated FC Ongos Ladies (Namibia) 3-1, while University Of Western Cape (South Africa) was defeated by Green Buffaloes (Zambia) 0-1.

UDL's campaign in the African Women's Champions League is an important milestone for the club and for Mozambican women's football. The players and coaching staff are focused on making history, with the ambition of going as far as possible in this elite competition.
