Tchakaze Presents “Só Elas” at the Franco-Mozambican Festival: A Celebration of Female Talent

THE The countdown is over for fans of Mozambican music. Today, starting at 8 pm, the Sala Grande of the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Center will host the concert “Só Elas” (Only Women), featuring Tchakaze, one of the most versatile and talented voices in the country.

Tchakaze, singer, actress, composer, choreographer, and social activist, has a multifaceted and inspiring career. Born in Maputo and trained in Psychiatry and Mental Health at the Maputo Institute of Health Sciences, she began her artistic career at the age of 17. Today, 17 years later, Tchakaze takes the stage at an exclusively female event, bringing the power of empowerment. She first appeared on stage as a backing vocalist for Penny Penny and was a member of the band Omba Mô. In 2014, she won over audiences with the hits “Nkata” and “Donguissa”. With a decade-long career, she has accumulated awards such as Revelation Artist and Best Voice at Ngoma Moçambique, as well as Best Song from 99FM.

Known for her blend of Pop and Soul, Tchakaze has shared the stage with renowned artists such as Zahara, Nomcebo, Aniano Tamele, Yolanda Kakana, and Deltino Guerreiro. Beyond her musical recognition, she has also distinguished herself as a dancer with the Maxaqueninha group and as an actress in various theatrical productions. Recently, she was part of the cast of the series "A Infiltrada," produced by the Multichoice group, playing the role of Janete.

The concert “Só Elas” (Only Women) is a multidisciplinary show that aims to highlight the presence of women in Mozambican culture. Accompanied by an all-female band, Tchakaze will share the stage with special guests: Delta Acácio, Kayena Xihiwa, and Sizaquel Matchombe in music; Dorcas Tamele and Cecília Rodrigues in poetry; Dina Francisco in dance; and Juliana de Sousa as MC. The project seeks to promote female empowerment, motivation, and creative expression, strengthening the presence of women in the artistic and social scene.

More than a concert, “Só Elas” (Only Women) is a manifesto for female autonomy and leadership in the arts and culture. The initiative reinforces the importance of physical and mental self-care, encouraging women to face challenges, such as domestic violence, through artistic expression.

Tonight, the Great Hall of the Franco-Mozambican Club will be the stage for an experience that goes far beyond music. “Só Elas” promises to move, inspire, and consolidate the strength of the female presence in the Mozambican cultural universe.
