The Mozambique Under-17 National Team is already preparing for one of the biggest challenges of the season: the 2024 COSAFA Cup, which will be held in Maputo next December. Starting September 2nd, the young Mozambican football talents will begin the second phase of their preparation, which will include intensive training and a detailed analysis by the coaching staff.
Preparation and Expectations
This preparation phase marks the beginning of a journey filled with expectations for both the athletes and the country. Mozambique will have the opportunity to play at home, and the hope for a memorable performance in the regional competition rests in the hands of these young people. The preliminary squad includes promising players from national clubs such as Associação Black Bulls, Clube de Desportos da Costa do Sol, and Liga Desportiva de Maputo, reflecting the diversity and strength of youth football in Mozambique.
The training sessions, which will take place at the Liga Desportiva de Maputo field, are scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM. These training sessions will not only be an opportunity to improve the athletes' physical fitness, but also to strengthen team spirit and refine the strategy that will be used during the tournament. Each session will be crucial for the players, who will be under close observation in the competition for a permanent place on the team.
The Importance of the COSAFA Under-17 Cup
The COSAFA Under-17 Cup represents much more than a competition for these young athletes; it is a stage where careers are built and future champions are shaped. For many of the selected players, this will be the first major opportunity to represent Mozambique in an international competition and to demonstrate their talent before the eyes of the entire region.
The Mozambican Football Federation (FMF) is committed to providing all the necessary conditions for adequate preparation, aiming to maximize the potential of the athletes. The objective is clear: to leave a mark on the history of the 2024 COSAFA Cup and assert the strength of Mozambican football on the regional stage.
