“If the player is thinking about another place, he has to leave,” says Antônio Barbosa, coach of Académica.

Académica de Coimbra coach Antônio Barbosa made strong statements regarding the situation of Mozambican international Gildo, indicating that the player is no longer part of the club's plans. The statement came after the team's defeat against 1º de Dezembro, a match in which Gildo was not even called up.

“We want those who are aligned with us. If a player is thinking about going elsewhere, he has to leave; he’s not part of our plans,” Barbosa stated.

Gildo arrived at Académica de Coimbra just six months ago, but, according to the coach, he seems to be forcing his departure. Barbosa's words suggest that the player is not fully committed to the objectives of the third division club in Portugal, which led to a decision to remove him from the team.

Académica's performance this season has fallen short of expectations, and the coach has adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards players who are not focused. For Barbosa, alignment among all team members is essential to achieving the desired results.

It is not yet known what Gildo's next career step will be, but the situation demonstrates the demands and pressures of professional football, where total commitment is a minimum expectation.

Meanwhile, Académica is looking to redirect its trajectory in the competition, focusing on players who are aligned with the club's philosophy.
