This Saturday, during the first edition of the Super Picanto, Rodrigo Rocha declared that the Automobile and Touring Club of Mozambique (ATCM) track is capable of hosting major events. According to the president of ATCM, the quality of the activities in this first major race confirms the track's capacity for future high-level events, comparable to African championships.
The inaugural edition of the Super Picanto is seen as a starting point for other major events at the ATCM track. Confidence in the infrastructure and organization was highlighted by Rocha, who emphasized the importance of the ATCM brand and the quality of sport developed at the club. He mentioned that hosting a full grid of African championships demonstrates confidence in ATCM's ability to host and organize large-scale events.
Rocha considered the first Super Picanto as a "test" that brought positive results for motorsport in Mozambique. He highlighted that, for the first time, a driver from the ATCM Academy competed with a club car, offering opportunities for engagement in high-quality international competitive sport even for those who cannot progress to the next class.
The event also had the support of ZAP, with Tomás Inguane affirming the company's commitment to continue supporting the project, at least for another year. Inguane highlighted the importance of maintaining quality in the organization of events, protecting ZAP's image and name.
The mechanical team's preparation was highlighted as fundamental to the drivers' safety on the track. Destemídio Mondlane, a mechanic for ATCM, mentioned that, despite the difficulties, the work is made easier when done with passion. Driver Paulo Tolingson also emphasized the importance of team preparation, stating that performance on the track depends on the teamwork done in the pit box.
