Mozambican boxers prepare for the Olympic Qualifying Final.

With their sights firmly set on the highly anticipated Olympic Qualification Window, the national boxers are intensifying their training to secure their participation in the crucial event, scheduled to take place from May 25 to June 2 in Bangkok, Thailand's capital.

With a twice-daily training routine at the Francisco Manyanga Secondary School gymnasium in Maputo, nine boxers are preparing to face the high-level competition that awaits them. Of these, eight are seeking to secure their place for the Paris Olympic Games, while Alcinda dos Santos has already earned her spot in the African window, held last September in Dakar, Senegal. Alcinda is now focused on maintaining her competitive rhythm during training.

The boxers representing Mozambique in this quest for Olympic qualification include Solomone Júlio (86 kg), Tiago Muxanga (75 kg), Bernardo Marrime (63 kg, currently in Ireland), Armando Sigaúque (57 kg), Benilde Macaringue (57 kg), Helena Bagão (52 kg), Isabel Mulungo (57 kg), and Rady Gramane (75 kg). Unfortunately, Yassine Nordine, in the 52 kg category, will not be able to participate in the Thai window due to an injury that required him to undergo recent surgery in Maputo. His recovery will take several months, keeping him away from the ring temporarily.

The competition in Bangkok will be fierce, with 51 boxing spots up for grabs at the Paris Games, contested by boxers from around the world. Of these, 28 will be for male athletes and 23 for female athletes, covering 13 categories in total, seven for men and six for women, with varying numbers of spots available in each.

For Mozambican boxers, this is a unique opportunity to demonstrate their skill, determination, and dedication to the sport on a global stage. With the support of the Mozambican Boxing Federation and the individual determination of each athlete, they are ready to face the challenges that await them in Bangkok and compete for their Olympic dream.

As the Qualifying Window date approaches, the entire country unites in support of its boxers, celebrating their courage and representation of Mozambique's sporting spirit. May this be a successful journey for all involved, and may the Mozambican boxers bring home the well-deserved spots at the Paris Olympic Games.
