Innovative Partnership between Aga Khan Academy Maputo and Black Bulls Association: A Milestone for Sport and Education in Mozambique

In a pioneering move to promote both education and sport in Mozambique, the Aga Khan Academy Maputo (AKAM) and the Black Bulls Association (ABB) have signed a groundbreaking agreement. This collaboration, the first of its kind, aims to provide Mozambican children with access to high-level education and sporting opportunities.

The partnership between AKAM and ABB represents a significant step forward in ensuring that Mozambican children have access to a comprehensive education that integrates academic excellence and athletic development. The focus will be on creating programs that promote a balanced approach to student growth, leveraging the strengths of both institutions to develop well-rounded individuals.

A key element of this agreement is the special scholarship scheme for talented young football players, allowing a new generation of athletes to access the highest level of international education. This initiative will open doors for young footballers to reach their full potential both on the field and in the classroom.

Furthermore, students at the Aga Khan Academy will have access to high-level football training and competitions, led by a team of ABB coaches with a proven track record of success. The goal is to promote young players to international professional football and win competitions at the highest level in the country.

Mahmud Charania, Chairman of the Board of AKAM, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: “This agreement is a testament to our commitment to holistic education. By partnering with the Black Bulls Association, we are providing our students with unique opportunities to excel in both their studies and athletic pursuits.”

Junaide Lalgy, President of ABB, echoed these sentiments: “We are thrilled to join forces with the Aga Khan Academy Maputo. Together, we will nurture the talents of young Mozambicans, giving them the tools they need to succeed in all areas of their lives.”

The partnership will include joint initiatives, training programs, and events designed to promote solidarity, citizenship, and the overall development of children through sport and education. This collaboration represents a shared vision of creating a brighter future for Mozambican youth, empowering them with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive.

Roy White, Director of AKAM, highlighted the transformative potential of this agreement: “Our goal is to inspire and equip the next generation of leaders in Mozambique. This collaboration with the Black Bulls Association is a significant step in that direction, providing our students with enriching experiences that go beyond the classroom.”
