Mozambican rapper K9 once again used his social media to share social reflections, highlighting the need for greater attention from authorities in light of the rise in mpox cases in the country. In a message filled with concern, the artist emphasized the importance of more active communication from the Ministry of Health, suggesting that a press conference with clear guidelines, including the mandatory use of masks, should have been held by now.
K9's words gain even more weight in light of the latest data: Mozambique recorded two more cases of mpox in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 31 in just three weeks. The number of suspected cases also increased, totaling 185, according to health authorities.

The rapper also raised a sensitive and recurring issue in African public debate: the possible fabricated origin of diseases that have historically hit the continent hard, such as Ebola, HIV, coronavirus, cancer, and now mpox. "We know why... we just keep thinking that the 'settlers' are 'saints,'" K9 stated, highlighting the need for greater vigilance and questioning on the part of African societies.
The artist also took the opportunity to reflect on the internal obstacles that compromise African countries' responsiveness. K9 highlighted the urgency of greater organization and protection, warning of the destructive impacts of corruption and greed. "They are killing themselves without knowing it... power without intelligence and conscience is family, intellectual, financial, spiritual, and cultural suicide," he wrote.
Known for his involvement in social causes, K9 reaffirms with this intervention that music and art are also instruments of mobilization and awareness. At a time when public health is once again at risk, his voice emerges as a call for responsibility from both authorities and citizens and the urgent need to act with clarity, strategy, and solidarity.
