Nelson and Tânia Chongo, a Mozambican singing duo, are the children of the late couple Carlos and Zaida Chongo. They have been developing their musical career since childhood within the large Chongo family and will soon release an original song titled KHANIMAMBO.
The duo has musical recordings scattered across various national compilations, with highlights including the songs: Filho de Peixe, Mwingi Wa Mamani, Hoyozela Mukonwana, Nirhandze Wena, Uketile, Mavele, Mabarraqueni, Uniyenguile.
In 2015, as a way to immortalize their parents, the duo planned and recorded a Tribute CD to Carlos & Zaida Chongo, which featured the participation of several local artists.
Currently, the duo has been performing live in various taverns, playing their own compositions and the best-known hit songs of the late couple Carlos and Zaida Chongo, as well as some unreleased tracks that the deceased couple wrote during their lifetime but did not have the opportunity to release. Today, on their social media accounts, the duo announced the upcoming release of a song titled KHANIMAMBO.
A source of national pride, as their deceased parents are considered the pillars of Mozambican music.
Carlos Chongo used his guitar as a weapon to liberate and raise awareness among the Mozambican and African people about slavery, and his wife Zaida Chongo used her voice and dance for the same purpose.
