Two giants of Mozambican music (Mr Bow and Nelson Tivane) have decided to explore a style of music from the northern region of the country called "XINGWERE" in their latest songs to delight their audience during this festive season, getting people from Rovuma to Maputo dancing non-stop. Mr Bow's songs are titled "Wassala Wassala" and Nelson Tivane's "Kuta Fiwa".
The similarity between these two songs sparked a series of debates among musicians, presenters, radio hosts, DJs, and internet users, some of whom considered it plagiarism on the part of Mr. Bow, who was repeatedly criticized and his music devalued. However, recently a wave of positive energy was initiated on social media by several artists in support of Mr. Bow, who, feeling appreciated, thanked them one by one in his posts.
It's worth highlighting that the song "Wassala Wassala" was released on December 24th on the program "Moçambique em Concerto" hosted by the renowned presenter and CEO of TV Sucesso, Gabriel Júnior, better known as Filho do Povo, and the video was released hours later on his YouTube channel and all digital platforms.
In turn, Nelson Tivane, who was interviewed on Freddy Jossias's program, clarified the plagiarism controversy, saying there was no plagiarism, only that it's the same rhythm that both artists coincidentally decided to explore. On the same occasion, the artist revealed that he had been part of the production of Mr. Bow's song "Wassala Wassala," who moments ago made a post about the two songs, which we will now quote:
“This year we decided to explore more rhythms from our country and we are dancing “XINGWERE“ from Rovuma to Maputo. WASALA WASALA by MR. BOW & KUTA FIWA by Nelson Tivane are great hits. Turn up the volume!”
This post by Bow discusses the pros and cons of these two great songs that are among the most played during this festive season.
