Personal reasons prevent Leia Dongue from representing the national team in the FIBA World Cup 2026 pre-qualifying tournament.

Leia Dongue, one of the stars of Mozambican basketball, will not represent the National Team in the Pre-Qualifying Tournament for the 2026 FIBA World Championship, which will be held in Germany. The player informed the Mozambican Basketball Federation (FMB) of her unavailability to participate in the tournament due to personal reasons.

Dongue, who had a season with Oxygen Roma Basket in Italy in the 2023/24 season, has an uncertain professional situation, which influenced his decision not to join the national team at this crucial moment.

However, Dongue declared her full availability to soon answer the call of the National Team for the qualifiers and the final phase of Afrobasket-2024, which will take place in Ivory Coast. This decision keeps alive the hope of fans to see her represent Mozambique in international competitions.

Meanwhile, the national team continues its preparation, with 15 athletes vying for 12 spots on the final roster that will travel to Mexico, preceded by a training camp of approximately 10 days in the United States of America.
