Mozambique's national roller hockey team began its campaign at the World Championship – Challengers Championship – victoriously, defeating Mexico 5-3. This tournament, which is equivalent to the third division of the world championship, is taking place in Novara, Italy, from September 16th to 22nd.
Under the technical command of Bruno Pimentel, the Mozambican team showed determination from the start of the match. Composed of players trained in Maputo, four of whom currently play in Portugal, the national team demonstrated great cohesion and strategy on the field.
Mozambique's goals were scored by Absalão Miquissene, who shone by scoring twice in the match, Artur Mapinguisse, Pedro Tivane Júnior, and Pedro Pimentel Júnior. This positive result puts Mozambique in a good position in Group A of the tournament.
Tomorrow, September 17th, the Mozambican national team will face Japan at 6 PM, seeking another victory. The Japanese team is coming off a heavy defeat, having been thrashed 11-1 by Israel in the first round. In the other game of the group, Uruguay beat New Zealand 10-0, confirming the balance of power among the teams in the group.
With this victory, Mozambique begins the tournament with good prospects and intends to continue its winning streak in the competition.
