Mozambique was eliminated from the African Beach Soccer Championship (CAN) after a crucial 6-3 defeat against Senegal. This decisive match determined which team would advance to the semi-finals of the competition. Despite fighting bravely and scoring three goals, the Mozambican team could not overcome the strong Senegalese side, which historically dominates beach soccer on the continent.
Mozambique entered the field knowing that only a victory would guarantee passage to the next phase. The team had accumulated 4 points in previous games, after a draw and a win, and provisionally occupied second place in the group. However, Senegal, with a powerful and highly experienced attack, prevailed, leaving Mozambique with no options for recovery during the game.
At the end of the group stage, Mauritania and Senegal advanced to the semifinals, both with 6 points. Mozambique, with 4 points, finished in third place, while Malawi ended its participation without any points, closing the group in last place.
Despite being eliminated, the Mozambican team showed signs of growth and development in beach soccer. This participation in the Africa Cup of Nations reaffirmed the potential of the "Mambas" (Mozambique's national team), who continue to improve their position on the African stage. Although the goal of reaching the semi-finals was not achieved, Mozambique's performance brought hope that the future of the sport in the country will be promising, especially with the experience gained in this competition.
Now, the Mozambican team is refocusing on future competitions, seeking to consolidate the progress already demonstrated and, who knows, achieve better results in the next editions of the tournament.
