Mozambique entered the field with a clear objective and left with gold around their necks. In the 2nd edition of the International Beach Volleyball Tournament, Mozambican teams won both the women's and men's competitions, confirming the sport's growth in the country.
In the women's competition, Vanessa Muianga and Ângela Tembe easily prevailed. Against Angola's Djeine and Domingas, they controlled the match from start to finish, winning 2-0, with scores of 21-14 and 21-10. Confident in reception and efficient in attack, they closed out the match without any major setbacks and secured the gold medal.
In the men's competition, the road to victory required more effort. The Mozambican duo came out strong and won the first set 21-19, but saw the Angolan team, formed by Carlos and Eduardo, grow in their play and tie the match in the second set. With the support of the home crowd, their opponents became more aggressive, forcing Mozambique to adjust their strategy. In the deciding set, the Mozambicans relied on more calculated effort management and exploited the spaces left by the Angolans. The strategy worked, and with a well-constructed final point, they secured the title.
The two gold medals mark Mozambique's first international achievements in 2025. This represents a positive start for national beach volleyball, which demonstrates its readiness for new challenges.
