Mozambique wins 2nd place in the Kyalami 9 Hours race.

Mozambique shines and wins second place in the Kyalami 9 Hours race.

Mozambique made history by achieving second place in the prestigious Kyalami 9 Hours endurance race, held at the iconic Midrand circuit in South Africa. Despite facing a severe technical failure in their VW Golf 7 Turbo, which limited the car to third gear for much of the race, the national team demonstrated resilience and competence, securing a prominent position in the competition.

Represented by the “Korridas Racing” team, composed of Bruno Campos, Marcos Rodrigues, João Martins, Sandro Alves and Pedro Quintela, Mozambique faced serious technical difficulties. The limitation in the gearbox made the race even more challenging, but the team managed to finish the race in fourth place overall, securing second place in the team standings.

The president of the Mozambican Federation of Automobile and Motorcycle Racing, Bruno Campos, who also participated as a driver, highlighted the extraordinary effort required by the competition. “It was three hours on Friday and nine on Saturday, in addition to the practice sessions. All of this had an impact on the car, but we managed to take the Mozambican flag to the top,” he said emotionally.

The event was won by the host team, South Africa, which, with a technical advantage and familiarity with the circuit, showed dominance throughout the race, fulfilling the popular saying: "at home, we are in charge".

Nevertheless, the performance of “Korridas Racing” is a source of pride, reinforcing Mozambique's presence in international motorsport and inspiring new generations to accelerate towards success.
