Mozambique's national team will learn its opponents for the sixth edition of the African Beach Soccer Championship (CAN) next Thursday, September 19th, with the draw taking place in Cairo, Egypt. The tournament, which will be held from October 19th to 26th, 2024 in the coastal city of Hurghada, will bring together eight renowned African teams, providing an intense competition for glory in the continent's beach soccer.

In addition to Mozambique, the championship will feature the national teams of Egypt (host country), Senegal, Ghana, Morocco, Tanzania, Mauritania, and Malawi. The eight teams will be divided into two groups of four, in a format that promises exciting and highly competitive matches. This tournament will also serve as a qualifying phase for the 2025 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, which will be held in the Seychelles Islands.

Mozambique, which has shown remarkable growth in the sport, was runner-up in 2021 and host of the 2022 edition, held in the city of Vilankulo. Now, the Mozambican team has its sights set on improving its performance and fighting for the African title, with a strategy focused on game-by-game progression.

Senegal, the current champion and one of the strongest teams in the competition, has already won the tournament four times and will be looking for its fifth title. However, the other teams are also competitive and will be determined to shine on the Egyptian stage.

The draw will take place at 5:00 PM local time in Cairo (4:00 PM in Maputo), and can be followed live on the digital platforms of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). For Mozambique, the competition will be a new opportunity to showcase its talent and passion for beach soccer, in a tournament that promises great excitement and intense matches.
