Mozambique Hosts COSAFA U-20 and U-17 Cup: Golden Opportunity for Youth Football

Mozambique will be the home of youth football next month, hosting the COSAFA U-20 Cup. This tournament will not be just another competition, but a true battle for qualification to the African U-20 Championship. Our national team will have the chance to seek its third consecutive participation in the continental championship, having already participated in Mauritania in 2021 and Egypt in 2023.

The draw for the matches is scheduled for next Thursday, and the Mozambican players will be looking for the best strategy to face their opponents and secure their coveted spot in the African Championship.

But the football excitement doesn't stop there. In December, Maputo will host the COSAFA U-17 Cup, for both men's and women's competitions. Like the U-20 tournament, this competition will also serve as a qualifier for the African U-17 Championship. Mozambican teams will have another opportunity to compete for a spot in the continental championship, which they have already participated in in Mali in 1995 and in the Seychelles in 2001.

Furthermore, the Mozambique women's senior team is preparing for another regional challenge: the competition that will be held between October 22 and November 3 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

Mozambican football is experiencing a period of excitement, with young talent poised to shine on the COSAFA pitches and the women's national team focused on representing the country well on the regional stage. Let's hope Mozambique makes history again!
