Manuel Kambala Remains at Polokwane City

Despite being announced as one of the new signings for UD Songo of Mozambique, midfielder Manuel Kambala will remain at Polokwane City for the next season.

Recently, Kambala was presented by UD Songo as one of their new acquisitions, along with former Mamelodi Sundowns player Luis Miquissone. The Mozambican club released a statement announcing Kambala's return, highlighting that the player has been with South African clubs in recent years, including Baroka FC (2019-2022), Magesi FC (2023) and Polokwane City (2023/2024).

However, the 32-year-old has been training with Polokwane City since the club's return from pre-season. Reports indicate that Kambala and Polokwane City are at odds over contractual issues. Unless an amicable solution is found, he is expected to remain at the club for the upcoming season.

Kambala joined Polokwane City after a season at Magesi FC, when the club was in the first division. He arrived in South Africa in 2019, recommended by former Baroka coach Wedson Nyirenda.

During the current transfer window, Polokwane City has not been very active. There is speculation that the club may lose one of its key players, Oswin Appolis, who has been linked with Soweto giants such as Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs. Furthermore, right-back Thabang Matuludi is also being targeted by several Betway Premiership clubs. The club has already parted ways with players such as Ndumiso Mabena, Lucky Baloyi, and Given Mashikinya.
