Mambas are on their way to Bamako, the capital of Mali, where they will begin preparations for the first round of Group I qualifying for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CAN), which will take place in Morocco at the end of next year. The match against Mali is scheduled for Friday night, September 6th, at 9 p.m.
The trip to Bamako begins this Monday, September 2nd, for the coaching staff, the National Coach, and the players playing in the Moçambola. They will meet in Bamako on September 3rd with the other members of the national team, especially the players playing abroad.
Of the 23 players called up for this qualifying stage, 12 play abroad and 11 in Moçambola, with the observation that all three goalkeepers called up are active in the National Football Championship.
Due to the short FIFA dates, National Coach Chiquinho Conde will not have the opportunity to work with the players on national soil. Therefore, all preparations for the opening match will take place in Bamako. The early arrival will allow the players to acclimate to the city's climate before the match.
To ensure that the strategy is well assimilated by the players, Chiquinho Conde maintained the usual base of the team, with the addition of striker Elias Macamo, called up to the team for the first time.
RETURN TO MAPUTO ON SEPTEMBER 7TH
The Mali – Mozambique match will feature a refereeing quartet from Chad, led by Alhadji Mahamat, with assistants Bogola Issa and Moussa Hafiz, and Pousri Alfred as fourth official.
After the match on Friday, September 6, the Mambas will begin their journey back to Maputo the following morning, September 7, with an estimated arrival time of the 8th. The team will then begin preparations for their upcoming match against Guinea-Bissau.
The clash with Djurtos is scheduled for September 10th, at 3:00 pm, at the Estádio Nacional do Zimpeto, with Chiquinho Conde having two days to prepare the team for the second round of the qualifying phase for CAN 2025.
