The singer Lizha James was one of the prominent figures at the opening of the second edition of Mozambique Music Hackathon, an event that runs from Friday, August 22, to Monday, August 25, at the School of Communication and Arts (ECA) of Eduardo Mondlane University, in Maputo City.
The hackathon, which brings together music, technology, entrepreneurship and innovation, is part of the project. “"Building with Music"”, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and promoted by AGAPE ETS, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Culture.

In this edition, approximately [number] are participating. 60 people organized into 15 groups, who will spend four days working on creative solutions to address the main challenges facing the Mozambican music industry.
According to ECA, the program includes conferences on copyright, panel discussions, and sessions of... hacking intensive, workshops, moments of networking ...and a musical showcase featuring emerging artists and special guests.
The highlighted themes include female empowerment, internationalization of artists, cultural tourism and professional networking, considered strategic for the development of the sector.
The teams will present their projects on August 25th to a jury of national and international experts. The winners will have the opportunity to represent Mozambique at world-renowned events, such as... Milan Music Week 2025 (Italy) and the Music Imbizo 2026 (South Africa).
