Last weekend, Liga7 delivered great excitement, with the decisive group stage matches determining the teams that would advance to the round of 16. This tournament, which aims to form the first national 7-a-side football team to represent Mozambique in the international tournament to be held in Brazil later this year, has proven to be a fiercely competitive event.
Group D: MSA and Inter de Maputo Advance with Difficulties
In the first game, MSA and Inter de Maputo faced off in a balanced duel. MSA emerged victorious, winning 1-0. Despite the defeat, Inter de Maputo also secured passage to the round of 16. Both teams finished with 4 points, resulting from one win, one draw and one loss, with MSA advancing as one of the best third-placed teams.
In the second group game, Academia Pé Descalço and Good Boys drew 1-1, a result that only benefited Academia Pé Descalço, who secured first place in the group and qualification with 5 points. Good Boys, however, were eliminated from the competition.
Group C: Los Clássicos e Black Wolves Fazem a Festa
In Group C, Los Classicos and Fénix FC drew 1-1. This result favored Los Classicos, who finished with 7 points and advanced as group leaders. Fénix FC, on the other hand, said goodbye to Liga7. In the other match of the group, Black Wolves beat ESJ 4-2, securing their place as second in the group with 4 points, while ESJ was also eliminated.
Group F: CGPRM and Bravosaka Showram Força
In Group F, CGPRM demonstrated their superiority on the field, defeating RVDA 4-1. However, even with the loss, RVDA advanced to the Round of 16 as one of the best third-placed teams. CGPRM secured first place in the group with an impeccable campaign, accumulating 9 points.
Also in Group F, Bravousaka thrashed Greens 3-0, securing their passage as the second-best team in the group with 6 points. Greens, like other teams, were eliminated from the competition.
Group E: Ndonga FC and Football Vivo Celebrate; 2000 FC Raises Suspicions
In Group E, Ndonga FC narrowly defeated Star Football to secure passage to the round of 16 as group leaders with 7 points. Star Football also qualified, finishing second in the group with 4 points.
However, the highlight of the group was the match between 2000 FC and Futebol Vivo. 2000 FC, already qualified, lost 1-0 to Futebol Vivo, a result that raised suspicions, since the defeated team had already secured its place in the round of 16. Futebol Vivo, needing a victory, earned 4 points and also advanced as the second-placed team in the group.
Other Highlights from Groups A and B
In Group A, Astroworld secured first place with a solid campaign, advancing to the Round of 16 along with Tic Tac FC, who qualified as the second-placed team. CSA, with a good performance, also secured a spot as one of the best third-placed teams.
Finally, in Group B, the Selvagens and Axinenes teams confirmed their qualification for the round of 16, completing the list of teams still in the competition.
