João Chissano, who took over as head coach of Textáfrica de Chimoio just four months ago, has decided to "throw in the towel" and leave the club. The coach's departure is due to constant salary delays and a lack of adequate working conditions, an unsustainable situation that led to his decision to resign.
The former national team coach was hired in May of this year with the mission of reversing the team's poor run in the Moçambola league, following the departure of Abdul Omar, who was dismissed due to bad results. However, despite Chissano's efforts, the "Fabris" continued to face difficulties both on and off the field, remaining in the relegation zone.
The situation worsened with recurring player strikes, which paralyzed training in protest against the non-payment of salaries. Without a solution from the club's management, led by Alfredo Dézima, and after yet another defeat, this time against Ferroviário de Lichinga, Chissano sent a letter formalizing his resignation.
Back in Maputo, Chissano declared that the necessary conditions to lead the team were not present, and that, in addition to salary problems, the club had not provided him with the essential tools to do his job. Even after attempts by the club president to convince him to change his mind, the coach maintained his position.
João Chissano leaves Textáfrica in last place in the Moçambola league, with only 11 points, after a short period marked by challenges and frustrations.
