Born João José Felisberto Franco in Maputo on April 3, 1990, Gasso is more than just a singer, songwriter, and producer – he is a true creative force who has left an indelible mark on the music scene in Mozambique and beyond.
Gasso's journey in music began in 2005 when he was part of the Hip-Hop group "Camp Hustlers". As a producer, he experimented with a variety of musical styles and, in 2009, decided to give his career a new direction, starting to sing. In 2010, he adopted the pseudonym Gasso, derived from the nickname "Gast", and thus a star was born.
The turning point in Gasso's career came in 2010 when he released the song "Ti vi…Aonde," which quickly became a hit in Mozambique and beyond. With a new and different style, Gasso won the hearts of fans and paved the way for his future success. In 2012, he named his musical genre Raggasso, a fusion of Ragga with children's voices, intended to make people laugh and dance.
In 2013, Gasso took another bold step in his career by entering the European market through YouTube and Facebook. His music gained fans in Portugal, and he was soon invited to perform in the country. A year later, in 2014, Gasso was recognized as "Breakthrough Artist" at the Kizomba Music Awards, solidifying his status as a rising star.
Today, as Gasso celebrates another year of life, it's impossible not to acknowledge the impact he has had on the Mozambican and international music industry. His captivating hits and boundless creativity continue to enchant fans worldwide.
