Ferroviário de Maputo traveled to Angola to acquire one of its biggest basketball stars, winger Ingvild Mucauro, with clear ambitions of winning the Sasol League, which kicks off this afternoon at the Maxaquene pavilion. After a stint with Inter Clube de Angola, Mucauro returns to the Mozambican club where she made history, winning, among other titles, two African Women's Senior Basketball Club Champions Cups: in 2018 in Maputo and in 2019 in Cairo, Egypt, where she was also named Most Valuable Player (MVP).
With a career marked by great achievements at Ferroviário, Inga's return is not only a technical reinforcement, but a clear demonstration of the club's intentions to win the Sasol League. Always loyal to Ferroviário Maputo, the player was instrumental in the club's victories, being a central figure in the team's successful trajectory, both in national and continental competitions.
In 2018, Mucauro was one of the players responsible for breaking First Bank's five-game unbeaten streak in the African Champions Clubs' Cup, leading the team in double-digit scoring in the semifinals, thus securing Ferroviário's spot in the final. Her performance continued to impress in the 2021 AfroBasket, where she helped Mozambique finish fifth, standing out as the team's best player, scoring 21 points in one game, and leading the team in steals with an average of 3.3 per game.
At the 2023 AfroBasket, Ingvild Mucauro and Silvia Veloso were once again key players for the Mozambican national team, putting pressure on opposing teams and preventing them from scoring more than 59 points in any game. Mucauro's experience and technical ability were essential to Mozambique's continued competitiveness at the highest level.
Now back at Ferroviário de Maputo, Inga brings with him not only his vast international experience but also the expectation of leading the club to victory in the Sasol League. His return is a crucial addition to the team, which relies on his technical ability and winning spirit to achieve another title and solidify its prominent position in African basketball.
