Today, June 29th, is a special day for Mozambican music, as Flash Enccy, one of the country's most influential rappers, celebrates his birthday. Born Andréssio Lucas Amaral in 1979 in Maputo, Flash Enccy is one of the most respected and beloved names in Mozambican rap.
Flash Enccy began his rap career with freestyles on radio shows in Maputo, quickly gaining recognition for his sharp rhymes and profound lyrics. Influenced by American rappers, he developed a unique style, avoiding imitation and focusing on authenticity.
In the 1990s, Flash Enccy made one of his first public appearances on the radio show Hip Hop Time, where his rhymes impressed host Zito Dog Style and the audience. This moment marked the beginning of his rise in the Mozambican hip hop scene.
In 2004, he joined rapper Legacy, also known as Sombra Negra, to form the duo Micro 2. Together, they released four albums: “Andando a Pé” (2007), “Caneta e Papel” (2008), “A Oficina do Conhecimento” (2012), and “Planeta Terra” (2018). This last album addresses themes such as domestic violence, forgiveness, politics, and the socioeconomic climate of Mozambique, always with care and sensitivity.
In addition to his work with Micro 2, Flash Enccy has released two solo albums: "Lavagem Cerebral" (2014) and "Antibióticos" (2020). The latter, considered one of the most important albums of his career, features renowned artists such as Wazimbo, Azagaia, Cláudia Narizes, Dinguizayo, Bhaka Yalofe, Lourenço and Rukan Rose.
Also known as Vaccina Boss, Flash Enccy is a street rapper, inspiring many with his lyrics that reflect life in African neighborhoods and his extensive reading of philosophy, sociology, law, and classical literature. He hosts the radio show "Pista 1 do Hip-hop" on Rádio Viva FM 99.6 in Maputo every Saturday, where he continues to influence and motivate the new generation of artists.
Flash Enccy advocates for equal rights among all countries, freedom of expression, and the fight for peace and social justice. With a revolutionary mindset, he uses his music as a platform for social intervention and always maintains the spirit of writing his own lyrics.
In addition to his musical success, Flash Enccy has a strong academic background, with degrees in British and American English, and additional courses in hospitality, culinary arts, accounting, business administration and IT.
