Red Star Recourse to CAF: The Search for Sports Justice

Red Star, a Mozambican football club, has appealed to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) seeking sporting justice following a series of events they consider detrimental to the fair development of the game. Their complaint is based on alleged violations of football rules and regulations, as well as concerns about the transparency of the Mozambican Football Federation (FMF).

The starting point for this appeal is the claim that complaints made to the FMF (Mozambique Football Federation) have not received an adequate response. According to them, the concerns raised by Red Star Belgrade regarding the course of the competition have never been addressed satisfactorily. This has raised doubts about the legality of the events and the fair application of the rules.

The alleged violations focus primarily on licensing regulations and infrastructure criteria. Red Star argues that the facilities do not meet the necessary standards to provide safety and comfort to spectators, as well as the needs of players and officials. This situation, according to the club's management, compromises the quality of the game and the safety of those involved.

The main controversy involves the scheduling of matches at the Marian Nguaby field in the city of Xai-Xai, Gaza province. The FMF (Mozambican Football Federation) had initially approved this field as the sole venue for matches of the National Second Division Championship. However, a change of venue was announced by the FMF, which scheduled a match at the Ferroviário de Gaza field in the same city.

This change led Red Star to contest the decision, arguing that it violates the previously established rules for the competition. The club considers the change unfair, discriminatory, and detrimental to the outcome of the game.

Red Star is appealing to CAF to take action, including sending inspectors to assess the conditions of the CFVG ground, where the FMF rescheduled their match. They are also requesting that the decision to reschedule be declared null and void and that the match be replayed at a ground deemed suitable.
