Mozambique's national team coach, Chiquinho Conde, offered a detailed analysis after the thrilling match against Egypt, revealing the strategies adopted to face a formidable opponent.
“We adapted to the circumstances the game was dictating. We couldn't have numerical superiority in midfield. Salah was very free and didn't drop back to defend. And, in the build-up phase, we had some difficulties. We changed to a back three and from then on we managed to balance the game, with faster and more versatile players,” explained Conde, highlighting the team's ability to adjust to the demands of the game.
The coach emphasized the importance of understanding the strengths and weaknesses of both teams, and how this understanding influenced tactical decisions. Chiquinho Conde expressed satisfaction with the execution of the ideas, highlighting that the players interpreted the proposed tactical changes very well.
Despite the remarkable performance, Chiquinho Conde lamented the lack of a victory he considered deserved: "It was a shame we didn't win here because the players deserved it." He acknowledged the lack of rhythm of some players, attributing it to the heat and adverse conditions.
The coach also discussed strategic substitutions, noting the importance of adapting to the players' physical fatigue, especially considering the heat during the game. Bruno Langa's performance was highlighted positively, and Conde emphasized the difficulty of playing with two full-backs in certain tactical situations.
Chiquinho Conde looked to the future, mentioning the need to assess the physical condition of some players, such as Clésio and Dominguez, and prepare for the upcoming challenge against Cape Verde. The possible return of Geny is also seen as an opportunity to adapt and improve the team's strategy.
This insight provided by Chiquinho Conde offers fans a deeper understanding of the challenges and strategic decisions faced by the Mozambique national team, raising expectations for upcoming matches. ⚽🇲🇿
