Clemente Carlos opens up about criticism and lack of support after career transition.

Journalist and activist Clemente Carlos used social media to share an emotional outburst about the challenges he has faced since deciding to leave television to dedicate himself to social activism. Known for his on-screen work, Clemente announced some time ago that he would be giving English lessons for a symbolic price of 150 meticais, with the aim of helping the Mozambican population and, at the same time, supporting himself in a dignified manner.

However, according to him, public participation was below expectations. "The people (the majority) didn't attend my classes, only about 100 people," he wrote. Despite this, he affirms that he remains true to his principles, refusing to ask for money directly: "I offer services in exchange for payment, but I have bills to pay."“

Faced with difficulties, Clemente accepted a job offer from Fred Jossias, president of the Board of Directors of the TTV channel, which, according to him, offers reasonable conditions for a medium-term collaboration. However, the decision generated negative reactions among some of the public, who accused him of being "emotional" about leaving the TV Sucesso channel.

“The same people who didn’t pay for classes to guarantee my livelihood as an activist are the same ones who say: ”He’s just emotional, he shouldn’t have left Sucesso for TTV,“” he lamented. In his outburst, Clemente questions: “Where should he go? To the market to scavenge for leftovers to eat?”

The presenter ends on a note of frustration and sadness, leaving open the possibility of leaving the country: "One day I'll leave the country. It's sad!"“

The case reignites the debate about the real support that public figures receive when they choose paths outside the traditional spotlight, and to what extent the public understands the difficulties faced by those who choose to serve society in an alternative way.
