Clause Preventing Contract Signing between FMF and Chiquinho Conde

The Mozambican Football Federation (FMF) and the national coach, Chiquinho Conde, are close to formalizing the renewal of his contract, but there is still a point of disagreement preventing the conclusion of the agreement. Both parties agreed on almost all aspects, but a specific clause is hindering the signing of the new agreement.

The new contract, which aims to extend the collaboration between the parties, should have a maximum duration of 19 months, according to the current understanding. This duration is a concession made by the coach, who initially intended a two-year contract, or 24 months. The decision to reduce the contract duration by five months was an attempt to accommodate the demands of the FMF, which set the deadline for May 2026.

The new contract will be valid until May 2026, a period that covers the final phase of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN). The tournament, which will be held in Morocco, will take place between December 21, 2025, and January 18, 2026. The decision to align the contract duration with the final date of CAN-2025 reflects the importance of this event for the FMF and the impact that the national team's performance will have on the negotiation.

Currently, the contract has not yet been formalized, as the parties need to resolve the disagreement regarding the term of validity. The final agreement should be signed after this pending issue is resolved, allowing Chiquinho Conde to continue leading the national team in its preparation for the important continental tournament.

The FMF and Chiquinho Conde are working to overcome this obstacle and ensure the continuity of the collaboration aimed at strengthening the national team and achieving outstanding performance in the next CAN (Africa Cup of Nations).
