Coach Chiquinho Conde, despite not yet having signed a new contract as national team manager, is already focused on preparing the Mambas for the double round of qualifying matches for the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) Morocco 2025. Conde's previous contract expired on July 31st, but this did not prevent the coach from continuing his work leading the Mozambican national team.
In statements made in the city of Beira, where he was honored by the local council, Chiquinho Conde highlighted that preparations for the matches against Mali and Guinea-Bissau are underway, even amidst contractual uncertainty. The coach emphasized the importance of a solid technical structure, which has been working diligently in observing opponents.
“Mali is a seeded team and has high-level players who play abroad. It won't be an easy task,” said Conde, acknowledging the strength of the opponents. Despite the challenges, the coach adopts a pragmatic approach, emphasizing that it is essential to maintain respect for all opponents. “Caution and chicken soup never hurt anyone,” commented Conde, indicating that prudence will be a central part of the strategy for the matches.
The first match, against Mali, will be a significant test for the Mambas, who are looking to start their qualifying campaign with a positive result. Four days later, the team will face Guinea-Bissau in Maputo, in a match that is equally crucial for Mozambique's aspirations to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
While Chiquinho Conde's contractual situation remains undefined, the coach continues to be committed to preparing the team, seeking to ensure that the Mambas are ready for the challenges ahead. His dedication and focus on technical work demonstrate the professionalism with which he leads the national team, even in times of uncertainty.
