Chiquinho Conde participates in the CAF Coaches Symposium in Abidjan.

The Mambas' national team coach, Chiquinho Conde, arrived in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, on the evening of Wednesday, September 11, 2024, to participate in the prestigious Confederation of African Football (CAF) Coaches Symposium. This event, scheduled for September 12 and 13, brings together more than 50 coaches from African national teams and is a unique opportunity for the exchange of experiences and strategic analysis of team performance in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN).

The symposium comes at a crucial moment for African football, following the historic success of the most recent edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, also held in Ivory Coast. The CAF initiative aims not only to assess the performance of the participating teams, but also to outline new approaches to raise the competitive level of African football on the world stage.

Chiquinho Conde will be joined by other prominent figures in African football, such as Emerse Faé, coach of the Ivory Coast national team, who had a brilliant campaign in the Africa Cup of Nations, José Peseiro, former coach of Nigeria, Avram Grant, coach of Zambia, and Sébastien Desabre, coach of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The sessions will be opened with speeches by the President of CAF, Dr. Patrice Motsepe, the Ivorian government, and the president of the Ivorian Football Federation, Yacine Idriss Diallo.

An Opportunity for Growth for African Football

The symposium is seen as a unique opportunity for coaches to share their visions and discuss strategies to improve the performance of African national teams. For Chiquinho Conde, this meeting is essential for the future of football on the continent. In statements before the event, the Mambas coach highlighted the importance of the initiative.

“CAF is creating a unique space for coaches from across the continent to come together and discuss the future of African football. This symposium is an important step towards improving our national teams and raising the competitive level of African football. I am very excited to participate and hope to learn a lot from the experiences of my colleagues,” said Chiquinho Conde.

The Mozambican coach sees the event as an opportunity to consolidate the work that has been developed in Mozambique and to absorb new ideas that can benefit the national team. He also stressed the importance of taking advantage of the legacy left by the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which, according to him, established new standards for competitions on the continent.

“The last edition was historic and served as a benchmark for all of us. It is essential that we discuss the lessons learned and, above all, find ways to transform this success into constant improvements in African football,” he added.

Strategic Discussions and Performance Analysis

The symposium includes a series of panels and debates focusing on the performance of national teams, analyzing not only the matches of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, but also the strategies adopted by the teams to face the challenges of the competition. Among the topics discussed are tactical development, the physical preparation of players, and the adaptation of national teams to the conditions and demands of high-level tournaments.

Chiquinho Conde, with his vast experience in African football, both as a player and as a coach, is among the professionals who have contributed significantly to the growth of football in Mozambique. His participation in this event represents a milestone for the country and a sign that Mozambique continues to be part of important conversations about the future of sport on the continent.

The Future of African Football

With the support of CAF, the Abidjan symposium aims to be a platform to drive change and improvement in African football, which has already proven its potential to compete on equal terms with other world football powers. By promoting an exchange of ideas and cooperation between coaches from different countries, CAF reaffirms its commitment to the development and professionalization of football on the continent.

The event promises to generate valuable insights that could, in the coming years, influence the tactics and strategies of African coaches, including Chiquinho Conde, in their quest to achieve new levels of success with their national teams.

Chiquinho Conde's participation in this symposium not only places Mozambique at the center of discussions about the future of African football, but also reinforces the country's commitment to continue evolving and competing at the highest level.
