With six months remaining on his contract with the Mozambican Football Federation (FMF), Chiquinho Conde, the current coach of the "Mambas," expressed that his continued tenure with the national team is in the hands of the federation itself. “I am here on a patriotic mission, I don’t own this place, being in this chair is my dream chair, obviously, but I know I’m on a temporary basis and knowing that I am resilient, and resilience for me is about us adapting to the world and not the world adapting to us,” stated Chiquinho Conde. He took over the command of the “Mambas” in October 2021, succeeding Horácio Gonçalves.
