Chamboco replaces Mexer in the National Team squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Mozambique national team has suffered another significant setback in its squad for the double round of qualifying matches for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN). Mexer, one of the team's defensive pillars, became the second player to be sidelined due to injury, following Guima's earlier dismissal for the same reason. To fill this gap, Chamboco has been called up to the squad.

The first match, corresponding to the third round of Group I, will take place at the Zimpeto National Stadium in Maputo on October 11, 2024, at 3:00 PM, where Mozambique will face Eswatini. This match will be crucial for the Mambas, who need a victory to remain firmly in the fight for qualification.

The second match, valid for the fourth round, will be played at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit, South Africa, on October 14, 2024, at 9:00 PM. Mozambique will have to deal with the additional challenge of playing away from home against an Eswatini team that will try to complicate the Mambas' journey.

The absence of two key players like Mexer and Guima increases the pressure on the coaching staff and the rest of the squad. However, the inclusion of Chamboco brings hope that the Mambas' defense will remain solid. Chamboco will now have the responsibility of filling in for Mexer's absence, while the team seeks to achieve the results necessary to secure its place in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

With two crucial matches ahead, Mozambique needs positive results to keep alive its dream of competing in the biggest national team competition on the African continent.
