On the morning of Friday, January 5th, the Mozambican Football Federation (FMF) and Cervejas de Moçambique (CDM) celebrated a sponsorship agreement aimed at supporting the national team, the Mambas, in their participation in the African Cup of Nations – CAN-2023, which will take place in Ivory Coast from January 13th to February 11th.
The agreement was formalized with the signatures of the Vice-President of Administration and Finance of the FMF, Jorge Bambo, and the Administrator of Cervejas de Moçambique, Hugo Gomes. This sponsorship marks the vigorous return of Cervejas de Moçambique to supporting national football, reaffirming the brewery's commitment to Mozambican sport.
According to Hugo Gomes, CDM's financial support for the Mozambican national team will come from the consumption of 2M beer during the team's matches in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. All sales of 2M beer made during these periods will benefit the Mozambican national football team, with the aim of directly supporting the players called up for the competition.
“The mechanism we agreed upon and decided is that the value of all sales of 2M beer made during the games will revert to the Mozambican national football team, particularly to support the players called up,” stated Hugo Gomes.
The initiative was well received by the Mozambican Football Federation, which sees this sponsorship as a valuable opportunity to meet the financial needs necessary to guarantee a dignified participation of the Mambas in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. The Vice-President of the FMF, Jorge Bambo, emphasized the importance of the support from large companies in the country to strengthen the performance of the national team.
“I believe that Mozambique and its 30 million citizens are waiting for a statement from the major companies in this country, therefore this gesture from CDM should be mirrored by many more companies,” said Bambo.
In addition to financial sponsorship, Cervejas de Moçambique (CDM) is also planning a specific campaign during Mozambique's stay at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. More than 100 entities associated with CDM's distribution chain will promote a campaign in which each goal scored by the Mambas will be worth the consumption of two additional beers.
With this partnership between the FMF and CDM, the country is experiencing a moment of unity around the national team, and fans can expect a series of exciting initiatives that not only support the Mambas in their quest for success in CAN-2023, but also celebrate the passion for football in Mozambique.
