Bruno Wilson completes naturalization process and joins the new Mozambican national team.

The Mozambican Football Federation (FMF) announced that footballer Bruno Ricardo Valdez Wilson has completed the naturalization process and is officially available to strengthen the national team, the Mambas. Bruno Wilson, grandson of the late Mário Wilson, a former Mozambican player and coach of Benfica in Portugal, is currently a defender for the San Jose Earthquakes in the United States.

Bruno Wilson's career

At 27 years old, Bruno Wilson possesses vast experience in European and North American soccer. His career includes stints at clubs such as Vizela FC, Sporting Braga, Tondela, Sporting Clube, Oeiras, Benfica in Portugal, and Tenerife in Spain. Currently, he plays for the San Jose Earthquakes in Major League Soccer (MLS), where he has stood out as a key player, participating in 25 games across all competitions in the 2022/2023 season. In addition to his solid defensive performance, Wilson has also contributed offensively with two goals and two assists, demonstrating his versatility and ability to impact the game on both ends of the field.

International Experience

Bruno Wilson also has international experience, having represented Portugal's Under-20 national team. During his time with the youth team, he demonstrated his potential and commitment as a player, characteristics that will certainly be valuable for the Mozambican national team.

Impact on the Mozambican National Team

With the successful completion of his naturalization process, Bruno Wilson joins four other recently naturalized players from the Black Bulls Association (ABB): Ejaita Ifoni, Jeleel Hammed, Stephen Seameh, and Kadre Gueye. This strategic inclusion of new talent aims to strengthen the Mambas team, offering more options and quality to the national coach.
