Atlético de Reinildo in the Champions League.

Atlético de Madrid begins its Champions League campaign this Thursday, September 19th, against RB Leipzig at the Civitas Metropolitano at 9:00 PM. This will be the Colchoneros' debut in the competition, which this year features a format that increases the number of matches in the group stage.

In an interview with EFE, Reinildo Mandava shared his expectations for the game and the new edition of the competition. The Mozambican left-back acknowledged that the competition will be demanding, especially due to the amount of international travel, but stressed that both he and his teammates are prepared to face these challenges. “This is our life. We are used to it, although we know it is difficult and arduous due to the travel, especially international travel, which takes days of flying,” he commented. Despite the physical and logistical strain, Reinildo reinforced the need to be focused on recovery and preparation for each match, ensuring that there is no room for excuses when it comes to stepping onto the field and giving their best for the team.

Regarding his own physical condition and mentality, Reinildo appeared confident and determined. The player feels he is continuously improving and that his commitment to always giving his best is what sets him apart. “With each game and training session, I feel better. I'm a person who likes to work. I give my all, I like being on the field to defend and help my team. I give everything,” he stated, emphasizing his work ethic.

Regarding his position in the team and the rotation promoted by Diego Simeone, Reinildo maintains a pragmatic view. For him, what matters is not the number of minutes played, but rather being available and giving his best whenever called upon. “I wasn’t hired to play every game. I’m just another player to help in whatever way is needed. Whether it’s 5, 20 or 90 minutes, I’m here to contribute,” said the Mozambican.

With the Champions League about to begin, Reinildo remains focused on his preparation and supporting the team, showing himself ready to face the challenges that the competition presents.
