Mauro Jamal is no longer the head coach of Desportivo de Maputo. The decision to leave the position was announced after the team suffered its fifth consecutive defeat last Wednesday, when it faced Matchedje and lost 0-2, in a match valid for the 21st round of the National Football Championship of the Second Division – Maputo City phase.
The string of poor results was one of the main factors that led to Jamal's departure. In addition to the below-expectations performances, the decision is also linked to the logistical problems that Desportivo de Maputo is currently facing, impacting the team's preparation and performance.
Mauro Jamal, who previously worked as an assistant coach for several teams, including Ferroviário de Nacala and Liga Desportiva de Maputo, had taken over as manager of Desportivo de Maputo in early 2024. His time with the team was marked by challenges, and the team's current situation made the decision inevitable.
Now, Desportivo de Maputo faces the challenge of finding a new coach to stabilize the team and improve its performance in the competition. Jamal's departure marks a turning point for the club, which seeks to overcome difficulties and resume a successful path in the Second Division.
